Ask Darla -- (if you dare)!
Play detective with Darla Throckmorton and investigate to find out more about her story. But you must be VERY CAREFUL! She has a wicked temper and does not hold her tongue when annoyed. She can be very insulting. It's best to ask her nicely. For starters, you might ask her why is she wearing that rather large cross? Is she religious, or does she know something? If you ask well, you'll get clues to unraveling the story of this great mystery book.
Darla may lead you around in circles or be very evasive. It's hard to know what she'll do, she is so unstable! If you manage to annoy her to the point where she leaves in a huff, you can start over and pursue a different line of questioning. In fact, the more lines you follow, the more she will reveal. Have fun, and good luck! Perry Mason never had such a tough time with a witness!
